It is a floor-based technique focused on weight, joints, bones, and lines of energy to maximize the potential for movement using minimal effort.  Anatomical awareness begins a class, which eventually achieve flight.

 

This workshop analyzes composition in performance with a focus on structure and dramaturgy. We explore approaches of developing movement material as a group and ways of using stage space, body designs, phrasing, rhythm, timing, dynamics, focus and form. We explore different ways to build a dramatic dance plot that include character, situation, intention, conflict, resolution or statement, opposition, climax and conclusion. Special emphasis is on following the parameters we discover in the process of creating our work.

 

Contaminated Dance

Her signature dance technique, Boán leads this collaborative “contaminated dance” process in which each participant contributes creative material in search of an emotional, physical, intellectual, and cultural language to achieve a shared result. The workshop will incorporate voice, acting, and singing and functions as a creative research laboratory.

 

Improvisation

This workshop focuses on expanding physical and creative improvisational skills, using different improvisation techniques coming from dance and theater of European, Asian, and American traditions.

It is a technique, which allows the body to think and follow thoughts and sensations, opening the creativity to chance and surprise. Working against comfortable movement patterns and simultaneously improving skills to achieve more efficient physical action-reaction. It is a highly playful workshop utilizing the energy of the group, the internal voice, and the collective voices to recover body sensations lost with learned techniques.

 

Afro-Cuban

Dancers and non-dancers are welcome. In this workshop, you will learn Afro-Cuban dances passed down from the West African Yoruba tradition, which pays homage to the Orishas (deities), including Chango, Ochun, Oggun and Yemaya. As well as Rumba, Salsa, Cha cha cha, Conga, Palo, Macuta and Arara. It is A very energetic, rhythmical class.Repertory Project

 

Taller de Proceso Creativo en danza

Teniendo en cuenta que proceso significa ”una serie de acciones dirigidas hacia un objetivo particular”, esta clase analiza y experimenta el proceso de creación en sus diferentes “acciones” como son La idea inicial o motivación, la estrategia de investigación para encontrar el material expresivo o expresión y las técnicas y teorías del performance para construir la obra final o comunicación. Este taller combinara elementos de improvisación, composición y dramaturgia de la danza en torno al proceso creativo. Los talleristas deberán crear varios estudios coreográficos que irán ganando complejidad desde el nivel abstracto composicional , pasando por el nivel narrativo hasta llegar al nivel espectacular.
