Internationally known choreographer, recognized as one of the most important artists of contemporary Cuban dance. She is considered a leader of the Hispanic-American dance vanguard. Her revolutionary style “Contaminated Dance” radically merges all the arts in dance performance to produce an original form. As choreographer, dancer and professor Boán has worked in more than 40 countries around the world and created more than 50 choreographies.
She is now working in Philadelphia, USA, where she teaches at Temple University after earning her master's degree, founded her new company BoanDanz Action and open BoanDanz Studio. 
As a founder director of DanzAbierta and BoanDanz Action, she has been awarded numerous prizes in Cuba and abroad. Her new piece VOYEUR was premiered at Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, September 6 and 7, 2007 and performed at Bogotá, Colombia, National University, November 22, 2007.
False Testimony (2006) has been successfully performed at la MaMa Experimental Theater in New York, Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia, Bates Dance Festival (2007), Annenberg Center (By Local Festival, Philadelphia).
Chorus Perpetuus, the last piece she created for DanzAbierta (Cuba, 2001) have been touring for five years all over the world. In year, 2006 was performed at Reims Festival, France and Sziget Festival, Hungary. 
With BoanDanz Action, she premiered five new works in year 2005: Map (Conwell Theater), Fluid (Painted Bride Art Center), Quiereme Mucho (Mexico City), Eighth Commandment (Germany, Oldenburg).
Her work has been presented at diverse venues and festivals including Grec, Madrid en Danza, Cadiz and Fall in Spain, The Place Theater in London, Festival of Nations in Switzerland, Chaillot Theater in Paris, Le Hague Festival in Holland, Cirque Royal de la Monnaie in Belgium, L’Arena de Verona and Goldoni Theater in Venetia, Italy, Global Dance and Summer Theater in Germany, Fringe Edinburgh and Glasgow Festivals, Scotland, Odin Theater in Denmark and the most important venues in Eastern Europe, Latin America, Caribbean, India, Nigeria and Japan. She has been a Titular Professor at the High Institute of Arts in Cuba (ISA) and has contributed to the education of several generations of Cuban and Latin American dancers.
Since year 2000 she have developed an intense work in USA as a guest artist, choreographer and performer with her solos Blanche Dubois, Fast Food, Seagull and Lifting and teaching composition, creative process, improvisation, Choreographic Project, Repertory, Dance technique, and Movement for actors and visual artists. 
She has created works for companies and institutions including the American Dance Festival (2000), Bates Dance Festival (2001, 2003 and 2004), NYU Politic and Performance Hemispheric Encuentro (2001 in Mexico, 2002 in Peru, 2003 in NYC), Barnard College, Columbia University (2001, 2002, 2003), Anchorage Alaska University Ensemble, Alfred College, Wake Forest University, Florida International University, Asheville Dance Theater Company and FITLA Los Angeles, DTW, Princeton University. In 2003 she taught a semester of Contaminated Dance in NYU Performance Studies Department, She is a recipient of a Rocky Award 2008, commissions including from Painted Bride Arts Center,  National Performance Network (NPN), Cuban Artists Fundation (CAF), Dance Advance.  She is member of the International Dance Council (CID).
